How To Write A Successful Geography Master's Dissertation: Basic Manual
If you are afraid that you might not have the skills to write a successful geography master’s dissertation, you are not alone. A lot of students have also found themselves in such situation but with some help, they were able to successfully complete their work and also achieve good marks. Yours does not have to be different. It could be that you have even written this paper once and failed. If this is the case, it is important you note those errors that led to your not being able to make it at the first time. This will further help you in making the necessary changes that will ensure you don’t fail again this time.
All that being said, listed below are some of the tips that will help you to write a successful geography master’s dissertation. They include the following:
- Set your first goal: A lot of students, including you, have failed their papers because they did not break down the paper into parts or categories. Don’t base your writing on a general note, be more specific. If for example the major topic is earth, don’t generalize it. Break the topic down into categories. Earth as a topic can be broken down into physical geography and human geography. This is your first goal – breaking down the categories. This way, you will be able to shed more light on your work without leaving the track.
- The second goal: This is that part of your dissertation work where you further break the categories into sub-categories or sub-points. If assuming in the first goal you were able to break down the topic into two categories like physical geography and human geography. You can further break down these categories into sub-categories. For the physical geography for example, you can come up with sub-points like glaciology, geodesy, climatology, etc. With human geography, you can further break it down to sub-points like historical geography, cultural geography, economic geography etc.
- The third goal: Having achieved the second goal, it now becomes easier for you to come up with an idea for your dissertation. This idea becomes the key to writing a successful geography master’s paper.
- Final goal: With first, second and third goals achieved, you are now on the final goal which is all about researching and writing your paper. It is the ultimate of all the goals listed here but having broken them down into parts, you will find that it is not burdensome to write a successful paper, not minding the subject or topic.
